Hi yahoo answers what is a chicken plan…Where it has to be implemented

Chicken coop construction can be an intimidating thing if you’ve never done it before. In order to save your time and energy, it’s best to figure out a good plan before going ahead with the project. If you properly follow a good guide to building your coop, your chickens will be happy and healthy for you, producing great eggs and saving you money.Overcrowding in a coop is something that must be avoided. Severe overcrowding causes various ailments and promotes cannibalism among the animals. Insufficient space and air inside the coop may lead to diseases and may even cause death. Hence, a spacious living area keeps your chicken healthy and encourages them to lay good eggs. Planning the quantity of chickens is the first step in the process of good chicken coop construction.

Hi Everyone,

I’ve got a treat today. Below you will find a video that gives you a 3D tour of the type of chicken coop you can build when you’ve got a great set of plans. There’s no audio but you’ll get a good idea of what you could build in the future.

Enjoy!

I have one 2 month old chicken who needs a house. I don’t want to buy a 200 dollar one online. What do i do?

We’re into recycling old material for pens, coops and animal housing, and you may have some material right in your garage that could work.

Truck caps make great small, portable coops. You can also use CPVC pipes with connectors and wrap chicken wire around it. If you plan on housing your bird in another building, such as a garage or barn, you can use basic wooden 1×2s to frame it and use hardware mesh or chicken wire for the top and sides. Old screens screwed together at the corners work too (we use these for our chick pens).

You can build anything out of old pallets and chicken wire!

On a side note, get your chicken a couple of friends… they can get very stressed being by themselves, as they are a social animal. Being alone is very unnatural for them, and increases their risk of predation. Even two other pullets around the same age won’t take up much space, and you’ll have happier, healthier birds for it.

I would like to know the best laying breeds of chickens of brown white & black. They can be crossbreds
For brown is it a Rhode Island Red x Australorp (i think)
I’m not sure for the other two colors (black) & (white)
However i think a white leghorn is crossed with something for a white high laying chicken. For the black i think its an orpington crossed with something, an australorp maybe? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

The black sex link is a good laying chicken,it is a cross between a rode island red and a barred rock.
The red sex link is a cross between a rode island red and a white leghorn.I have seen some really large eggs from both but the black sex link is suppose to get a bit larger than the red if you want to get a dual purpose bird you would get more meat for stewing.

Hi,

I have intended to build a perfect chicken coop in my backyard. I don’t want to buy ready-made coops because they are costlier. I do want to build my own chicken coop at affordable cost, which is not more than $500. I do want to raise only 10 chickens..

If you going to build a coop then make sure it has a floor and is a foot off the ground to prevent rats burying up through in to the coop. Cover the floor with saw dust and change it every few weeks. Make the roosts big enough that ten chickens can perch on each one. Put in three perches at different levels. This allows the birds to select a level of seniority and they will be happier. Happy chickens lay better if that’s what you want them for.

Australorp
Rhode Island Red
Sussex
Barred rock
Wyandotte

(answer as many as you can)

All any of these chickens need is crumbles and some scratch, I have 4 Rhode Islands and I get a bag of Crumbles for about $20, and a bag of Scratch for about $10, and these bags last me for at least 2 months. If there laying age hens you’ll have to also give them some sort of calcium supplement like ouster shell, I believe the bag I bought cost 7 or 8 dollars, and I still have it after a month. Chickens will also eat just about any table scraps you want to give them, but i think of those more as treats as apposed to being part of their diet, Hope that helps!

I am geting 5 kinds of chickens. I am getting them as chicks. Can I get a male of each kind? Will the male only mate with its own kind? If i gest get a male of 1 breed will it mate with the other breeds?the kinds of chickens i am geting are Plymouth Rocks, susex, wyadottes, Leghorns, and Araucanas. Can i have a male of each kind?

We keep multiple roosters (I have about 8 right now), and most of them get along. Generally, ones that are raised together tend to get along better, but eventually, testosterone may overtake them and they’ll just start scrapping.

Roosters are pretty indiscriminate – a hen is a hen to them, and they’ll mount whoever they can catch. And most likely will fight amongst themselves eventually unless you plan on maintaing a large flock of hens, or penning them separately.

If you want a rooster of each breed, I would recommend placing them in breeding trios, where each rooster can have a couple of hens of their own breed in their own yard or little house. I’ve seen some pretty ingenious designs for creating individual trio houses.

If you let them all free range together, you will never know if your eggs are going to hatch out chicks of that specific breed, and with multiple roosters, each brood will most likely have DNA from every rooster. If you plan on breeding, it’s alot harder to sell chicks if the buyer can’t identify what the bird is.

Also, from my experience, araucana roosters tend to be very nice – and leghorn roosters can get very big and aggressive. If you are mixing different breeds, make sure your roosters are of similar sizes so everyone stands a fighting chance.

I recommend everyone who plans on owning chickens pick up a copy of Storey’s Guide to Raising Chickens – it’s a great reference source that any chicken owner will benefit from having. Get it at the feed store when you pick up your chicks!

How do I attach the pvc pipe to the dog house and the pvc pipe to chicken wire or is there a cheaper way to make a chicken coop?

Okay…It’s possible. You can attach by drilling holes thru dog, thread,or put fitting on both sides to stabilize pvc.You can attach chicken wire to pvc with bailing wire found at any hardware (Lowe’s,Home Depot,Ace,or so on). Remember to place bedding for your chicken. You can build laying nest out of pvc too by combining L-braces and fittings to make the shape and size desired.

This breed originated in China or somewhere in Southeast Asia. Silkies have soft hair like feather. They also have five toes and unlike other chicken breeds they have black skin. They are sweet natured and friendly. However the hens tend to be broody, which is why other breeders use them to hatch the eggs of other breeds.
