How do you get …
How do you get inside is there a door or do you just lift it up everytime thanks for all the great info!!!
if a dog or …
if a dog or something would try to get to your birds is it durable enough for this???
Did you stake it …
Did you stake it down to keep predators from picking it up/crawling under?
GENIUS!!!
GENIUS!!!
thanks
thanks
It’s videos like …
It’s videos like this that really show off the power of YouTube. A couple people, a video camera and some software and you’re suddenly educating the world on how to be more self-sufficient. No sending away for videos listed in the ads in the backs of magazines you may never come across. Thanks for taking the time and effort to put together your videos!

i will be building a coop soon and was wondering about your comment about wire under the coop,so it will be attached to the coop.
will the chickens damage there feet when they scratch around on the floor?
Yes!!
Yes!!
Absolutely, youtube …
Absolutely, youtube has become a very powerful self-educational tool (for people who use it for that purpose of course). Kudos to you Becky and Scott for putting these together, your videos are very well-made. You are living the dream of so many of us, must have taken real courage to make the switch. Best of luck.
running wire under …
running wire under the dirt will only mean u would have to put more wire under the dirt if u move the coop so i would suggest u wrap the bottom of the coop with chicken so that if u move the coop the wire get moved with it and it will keep the predators out as well also grass will be abt to stick up thru the wire so that your chickens can still scratch around and pick grass
Chickens eat grass? …
Chickens eat grass?!?!
You’re welcome! I …
You’re welcome! I was also thinking about running wood aroundthe base of the fencing. I have a lot of old wood, but I think the animals could still dig under it. The wire underground and scooped out is probably our best bet.
That is a good idea …
That is a good idea. I was thinking of running the wire all the way under to the other side of the coops, making an entire floor of wire….but your idea makes better sense and saves a lot wire and money! Thanks.
What about the …
What about the foxes and dogs? How do you protect the chickens from digging predators?
Thank you! Great …
Thank you! Great ideas!
First of all, Becky …
First of all, Becky has a friendly-happy voice and she has lots of great tips and ideas!
That is right! But …
That is right! But when you dig the wire in to the ground make sure it “scoops” outward. So when say a dog digs it’s going to hit wire. If the wire scoops inward (toward the pen) the dog can dig under it and scoot right into the pen.
My question is how …
My question is how do you keep animals from digging under the coop and getting in to the chickens? I have always thought I’d run wire under the dirt so animals couldn’t sneak in.
Becky your videos …
Becky your videos are great! Your cheerful disposition is refreshing and the information, suggestions and ideas are inspirational. Thks for posting

Coop is a clever …
Coop is a clever idea, but might I suggest some diagonal braces near the corners? Also use UV stabilised PVC if you can find it.
