Just another idea that wont be as much work as burying paving stones ect, get some chicken wire and peg it to the ground inside the coop, then cover it with a sheet of ply so you can clean it out easily.

Hey neato! I purchased metal sheeting for two sides of the coop for opossums and stinking ground rats. I planted it two feet down on each side. I was only going to put two walls and hardcloth the rest.

    Good vid, Christian …
Good vid, Christian. Just keep a step ahead of the predators. Praxxus55712 and thebirthden’s, ideas sound like very solid ideas, to discourage diggers.

Not sure if this works Ive been told sprinkling chilli, black pepper garlic ect around deters them cant see it bee’ing very practical though in the outdoors you would have to do it quite often.

I’d bury chicken wire at least 1.5 ft deep
& horizontal several ft. Then rocks.

I think Praxxus has some very good advice. Predators can be very determined to get at your birds…… Donald

    If you have enough …
If you have enough rocks, you can also line the inside of the coop up against the walls with rocks. I did this because the fox and rabbits will dig under the walls from the outside. They can sometimes dig around the rocks or move them. BUT, with the rocks on the inside floor against the walls, when the critter digs under the wall, the rock falls into the hole from the inside and scares/hurts/discourages the digger. I’ve had this work for me. Just an idea for added security for your flock. :)

    Looking good!

An idea for the edges, if you are worried about things digging. My friend breeds Irish Wolfhounds and they LOVE to dig.

What he does is use 12″x12″ patio slabs. He turns them on end and sinks them about 8″ into the ground.

Around here you can find these everywhere as they were put in back in the 60s & 70s and now everyone is taking them out to put in interlocking brick.

    Hope that helps!
