This is our new chicken tractor….. actually it’s for our new baby ducks, which will arrive in a few weeks. Our chicken/duck tractor made for under $300.00 will supply us with farm fresh duck eggs along with giving our ducks a safe and roomy home for good egg production. We got the idea from a book by Eliot Coleman called Four Season Harvest where he had a section on Ducks.

Also, from what I have read, you can contain these birds with an 18 inch high fence because although they can fly, they prefer not to.

We also ordered (13) Welsh Harlequin ducks this year. I just figured out the eggs are actualy jumbo size at 32oz per dozen. People can’t believe they lay .9 eggs per day or often over 300 per year! These are the best ducks and ours just today started quacking instead of peeping. Tomorrow I start on my duck tractor. It will be about 10 x 12′ and 2′ high with chicken wire on sides and top with a 2×4 and 2×2 frame.
