@dgbregman I live in regular suburbs and have had chickens here for the past 4-5 years-no problems. My neighbors are fine with it. They are rather quiet because I only have hens (no crowing roosters). I take walks in the neighborhood often & every year I hear more and more chickens & even roosters in peoples yards in my area. In this neighborhood you’d never think people would be raising chickens. I doubt they are even allowed here, but food in stores can’t be trusted so we raise our own!

@mskittystone Some chickens use nest boxes and roosts… *eyes her birds* Mine refuse to use the nest boxes half the time. I have found eggs on the floor, on straw bales, and all over the barn. It`s like an Easter egg hunt every day. Not sure if you are getting chicks, pullets or hens, but once they are hens expect 9 eggs a day… if they are really happy as many as 18 a day for the first year (mine all laid two eggs a day for the first year)- be ready to bake lots lol.

Nice set up you have. I have a small flock myself (9 birds) and they are great. Messy for sure though! I am forever cleaning them. D: I love them though and it`s nice to have fresh eggs.

Informative video! My husband and I are getting 9 baby girls in two weeks and are building our coop now. We’ve never had chickens before OR built a coop, so this was helpful to see how the chickens USE their roosts and next boxes, which you don’t see when you look at chicken coop plans! They seem very very happy!

Those were probably fine without refridgeration b/c it was cool out. Eggs used to not be kept in fridges you know…room temperature is perfectly fine. In summer when it’s hot we just make sure to bring them in within a few hours.

nice chicken coop , its awsome , i do only write polite comments , i know how it is lol , but yes , nice horses im out on farm too lol. i always giggle when i see chickens or coops i really dunno y but it seems there might be humor in chickens i guess , nice coop , and nice snow lol!. i know how that snow is im from northern Massachusetts which i understand how it is in this video. ya seem nice lol. nice chickens ya rule hah. the Powerpuff gurl chiken looks like the king ,thats awsome

We don’t want to deal with the noise of the rooster…plus, we only want babies every 2 1/2 years….and we don’t want our girls to have a rooster sitting on them all the time…

Hi, I dont *think Ive commented on this before… Ive watched it a few times though. lol Very nice coop, you’ve got some great frame work on the doors, specially the nest box doors. So why not just get a rooster and hatch your own babies?
