This video will share with you, the songs of the new baby chickens, that will warn you, when she’s going to start laying her first eggs.

1) HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVE HEN-BABY CHICKS OR ROOSTER-BABY CHICKS?
It’s difficult to identify at a glance a rooster or “COCKEREL” from a future hen “PULLET”. Usually between 5-8 weeks old a young rooster will start crowing at dawn.” A PULLET or female baby chicken will chirp like a bird and coo just before they start laying eggs.

2)THE YOUNG FEMALE CHICKEN WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN SHE
IS GOING TO START LAYING EGGS BY HER SONG!
PRELAYING-STAGE-SONGS:Before a young “PULLET”-female baby chicken’s chirp and sing

WARNING GOING-TO-START-LAYING EGG SONG: The female Pullet’s voice changes and she begins to shriek, scream and cackling just before she starts laying her first eggs. When you hear this warning of egg laying song start checking your nesting boxes everyday. She’s ready to lay eggs.

    @jujutubes: Yes, his brilliant colors will flare and grow those long showy tail feathers. I just love having my chickens each one of them have distinct personalities too.

    @eoptravel Wow …
    @eoptravel Wow that’s a lot of feathers. I wonder if there is something we can do with em.. like stuff pillows lol. I did wake up early enough one time but he was being shy. I figure in about another month or so he will be very obvious :)

    @jujutubes: Yes, I …
    @jujutubes: Yes, I hope so too. Right now the Bard Rock’s chicken yard is lined with soft small feathers. My husband said, there is enough feathers on the ground right now to stuff a pillow. Did you wake up early enough in the morning at dawn to catch which of your new chickens is the rooster yet?

    @eoptravel …
    @eoptravel Hopefully your Polish will start working and putting out some eggs for ya soon ;)

    @jujutubes: That’s …
    @jujutubes: That’s right he’d better be nice to your ladies, or in the stew pot he goes. One of my Polish pullets, started to cackle very loudly today. Still no eggs, and my Bard Rocks pen is covered in molting feathers. At least 2 of the Americaunas are still laying eggs, but every other day. So day instead of 1 egg, I had only 2 eggs. Breakfast is skimmy these days.

    @eoptravel We would like to keep a rooster as long as he isn’t too mean and doesn’t try to eat us. If we end up having more roosters they’re going in the freezer and I’ll probably keep the biggest prettiest one as long as he treats his ladies good. He sounded so funny… I wish I had a way of recording it :(

  • eoptravel says:

    @jujutubes: Oh oh …
    @jujutubes: Oh oh you have a rooster. I wonder how long he has been crowing? Luckily you heard him this morning. If you bought this one from a local farm, if you don’t want him, trade him out for a pullet before they get really territorial.

    Guess what happened …
    Guess what happened today!? At 6:40 in the morning I heard one of my chicky babies trying to crow. He did it about 3 or 4 times. I ran outside to try and see which one it was but he stopped when i went out. I’m gonna get up extra early tomorrow and let em out early so I can see which one it is! In 2 days they will be 12 – 13 weeks.

    @KillaC4Mammie: I am psyched for you friend. I will make a winterizing your chicken coop, and how to prolong egg production during winter next week. What’s really cool about chickens too, you just throw the weed in the chicken yard, and they compost it, taking 1 year off the composting time in bins. They are so handy. I’ll also do lots of recipes for eggs for you too. (;Cat
